Time Is Precious, Reprioritize Where Needed
Hello everyone! I’ve been thinking a lot these past few weeks about what time is worth to us.
While my main goal a few years ago was to maximize investments, one thing I’ve come to realize is your time is much better spent on a simple, effective, and reliable investment.
What I mean is instead of you working extremely hard to get 15-20%+ returns on your money, why not try to find investments that are 100% passive that allow you to be able to see 8-12% returns?
For years I have built businesses, spent countless hours working hard on hitting the next income threshold.
What was funny is after years of working hard on these businesses, I did some calculations on if I were to invest into the stock market index funds, and I would have seen 8% annualized growth year over year, completely passively.
My Net returns over 5 years of work was close to 30% returns. I actually LOST money by trying to make more through various business ventures.
Sometimes simple is best. Is all that mental energy and time worth it to gain an extra 10-20%? For me personally, the answer is no.
I like to call this Margarita money, where you don’t need to think about what you need to do today to keep the business going.
Rather, you simply need to contribute more investments over time to realize even more gains. Making money while you’re on the beach sipping margaritas seems like a pretty good deal to me!
I’m writing all this to say to be more mindful of what you spend more time doing. For me personally, I love spending more time with my daughter. Whatever I need to do to buy back more time with my family is my #1 priority.
This isn’t synonymous with investing either, what other decisions can you make to buy back more of your time?
Thanks for reading, stay tuned for more! :)
